Ultrasound of the Scrotum: Everything You Want to Know But Are Afraid to Ask

At the end of this lecture, attendees will:

  • Identify clinical indications for doing a scrotal US examination

  • Identify sonographic features that suggest an abnormality is a "no-touch" lesion

  • Identify the varied sonographic features that suggest a testicular neoplasm

  • Identify and differentiate sonographic features associated with extra-testicular pathology

    Ultrasound of the Acute Abdomen

    At the end of this lecture, attendees will: 

  • Utilize sonographic criteria to specifically diagnose acute cholecystitis

  • Describe a sonographic method used to optimize visualization of choledocholithiasis

  • Identify sonographic approaches that are useful for detecting renal obstruction and ureteral stones

  • Identify various sonographic appearances consistent with complex abdominal fluid collections

Acute Female Pelvic Pain

At the end of this lecture, attendees will:

  • Identify pathology encountered in routine sonographic evaluation of the endometrium

  • Outline indications for saline infusion sonography

  • Discuss the proper technique of measuring the endometrium

    Ultrasound of the Endometrium

    At the end of this lecture, attendees will:

  • Describe the common causes of acute pelvic pain in the non-pregnant patient

  • Recognize the Ultrasound appearance of various causes of acute pelvic pain including hemorrhagic cysts, endometriomas, ovarian torsion, and PID

  • Understand the role of Doppler in evaluation of ovarian torsion.
