SANDERS HONORARY LECTURE |

The Isaac Sanders Honorary Lecture was inaugurated to honor Isaac Sanders, MD, FACR during the 1993 Midwinter Conference in recognition of his contributions to Radiology and to the Radiology community. Dr. Sanders was a staff member at White Memorial Medical Center from 1965 to 1999. He served as Director of Residency Training from 1967 to 1983, Chairman of the Radiology Department from 1983 to 1995, and served as Chief of Staff from 1983 to 1987. Dr. Sanders was named Outstanding Teacher of the Year eight times, was awarded Lifetime Staff status at White Memorial in 1999, and was awarded honorary lifetime membership in the Association of Women Radiologists in 1994. Dr. Sanders was active and influential in organized radiology at all levels. He served LARS as ACR Councilor from 1979 to 1994 and was LARS President in 1977. He was also President of the California Radiological Society in 1989 and Trustee of the American Board of Radiology from 1993 to 1999. Dr. Sanders is a Fellow of The American College of Radiology, The American College of Physicians, and The American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Sanders postponed retirement from practice in the 1990’s in order to remain eligible to be an active representative to the ABR while CAQ issues were being discussed and instituted. During the 1993 Midwinter Meeting, Charles Schatz, MD, then President of LARS, along with Jay Mall, MD, President of the CRS and Lee Rodgers, MD, President of the ACR spoke about Dr. Sanders’ importance to radiology. |
